Simon Rimmer signs up for Strictly Come Dancing

Wirral chef says: "Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me."

Simon Rimmer has been confirmed as a contestant on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Wallasey born chef, who has The Viking in West Kirby and The Elephant in Woolton, as well as Greens in Didsbury and Earle in Hale, is also the chef and co-presenter on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
He says: “I am so excited, terrified and proud to be invited to be part of Strictly 2017. I’ve always been a HUUUUGE fan of the show. When I put on my sequins and hit the floor it will genuinely be my very first time dancing ballroom and latin. Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me. I can’t wait.”
The 15th series of the BAFTA award-winning entertainment show produced by BBC Studios will return in the autumn on BBC One putting the sparkle back into Saturday and Sunday nights.
Full scheduling will be confirmed nearer the time but the series is expected to begin on Friday September 22, 2017, just after Simon’s appearance at Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.
Simon has presented and cooked across many shows and channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and UKTV; and his numerous credits include Tricks of the Restaurant Trade, Breaking into Tesco’s, Eat the Week, Great British Menu and Win It, Cook It.
Aside from his TV work, Simon has also written and published five successful books and he regularly contributes to food magazines. He is a chef/owner of nine restaurants in England and one in Dubai.

Past chefs on the show have included James Martin, Gary Rhodes, Hairy Biker Dave Myers and Ainsley Harriott.

The news was revealed today on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
Simon isn’y the only Wirralian on this year’s show. Shirley Ballas, the new head judge is also from from Wallasey.
Shirley is a former British Open To The World champion, European, German, United Kingdom, United States and International Latin American champion.
The ballroom and Latin dancer and international coach, will replace Len Goodman on this Autumn’s series.
Simon Rimmer joins Joe McFadden, Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami and Mollie King who have also been confirmed for the new series.
