Warrington based Room Forty has won a Silver Award for its white bread in the Tiptree World Bread Awards 2017

The annual competition was held at London’s Westminster Cathedral Hall in September and the results were announced in London on 25 October. Room Forty, an Afternoon Tea Emporium and Mobile Baking School was competing against hundreds of craft and artisan bakeries for the first time.

Winning an award is the equivalent of winning an Oscar from the craft bread baking industry. Loaves are judged by a panel of prominent, elite craft and master bakers who represent the pinnacle of baking excellence.

Jen Perry, proprietor of Room Forty mobile afternoon tea emporium and mobile cookery school says: “Competing in the Tiptree World Bread Awards was a complete first for us. It was daunting, but very, very exciting. We always thought that our bread was good but are astonished and humbled that the crème de la crème of the professional baking industry have awarded us silver prize.”

“We are passionate about baking, passionate about real, additive free food and delight in passing on our baking skills and we teach our students how to bake our winning White Delight loaf at our classes. The same winning recipe is used when we bake rolls that we serve at our Afternoon Teas.”
