Restaurants across Liverpool are joining Action Against Hunger’s Love Food Give Food Campaign. The premise of the campaign is simple: restaurants add an optional £1 to the bill or donate a percentage of the proceeds of a menu item. The money raised goes towards fighting hunger around the world.

The recent UN State of Food Security report has shown that global hunger levels have risen for a third consecutive year. Today, more than a quarter of the world’s population -2 billion people- don’t have enough food to eat. That is why, as the world leading charity in the fight against hunger, the organisation is hoping that this year will see a record number of restaurants joining the fight.

Amongst the Liverpool restaurants signed up for the campaign are: Bundobust Liverpool, Buyers Club, Cucina di Vincenzo, Fazenda Liverpool, Free State Kitchen, Hanover Street Social, Lunya Liverpool, Lunyalita, Maray Allerton Road, Maray Bold Street, Oh Me Oh My, Pho Liverpool, Rocket and Ruby, Rosa’s Thai Café Liverpool, Roski, Salt House Bacaro, Salt House Tapas, The Art School and Veeno Liverpool.

Tomas Maunier, Co-Founder of Fazenda, said: “At Fazenda and Picanha, we’re honoured to be a part of this exceptional campaign that brings restaurants and guests together to work collectively towards the same goal: to save the lives of malnourished children and build brighter futures.”

Love Food Give Food does exactly what it says – it turns our passion for food into tangible efforts to help those who need it most through the work of Action Against Hunger. We believe that as well as providing nutrition, food builds communities through sharing, and we’re looking forward to getting involved again this year with the support of our guests”

Matthew White, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Action Against Hunger, said “It’s fantastic to have so many restaurants in Liverpool joining this year’s campaign. Everybody who eats at a participating restaurant will be helping us provide life-saving nutrition for a child in need.

“Now, we just need the people of Liverpool to come and support their local restaurants! Every £1 raised can provide a day’s worth of life-saving and nutritious food for a child in need. So not only will you be enjoying a good meal and supporting a local restaurant, you will also be helping to change the lives of thousands of children around the world.”

Action Against Hunger’s flagship Love Food Give Food campaign has been running for 10 years and thanks to the generosity of the restaurant industry has raised more than £3 million to date.
