Liverpool tea shop Leaf is preparing for its new venue in West Kirby, on the site of the Viking, Simon Rimmer’s gastropub.
The pub site, formerly The Hilltop has also been known as The Collingwood and run by another big name – Michelin starred Kirkby chef Aiden Byrne.
The Leaf team say they are ‘thrilled’ at the prospect of being part of the West Kirby and Wirral community. They add they will be bringing ‘tea, music and good times’ to the neighbourhood after an amazing 10 years in Liverpool.
Leaf West Kirby will add to the already flourishing independent scene in the area and will offer 70+ teas, imaginative breakfasts, brunches and lunches, as well as a varied evening programme of craft gins and beers, cocktails and fine wines.
The move to West Kirby follows the successful launch of LEAF into the Smithdown neighbourhood of South Liverpool and marks an exciting next chapter for the family-run business.
Natalie Haywood, founder of LEAF says: “Our new home in the much-loved Viking site feels wonderful already and we are really excited about working closely with the local community to deliver a distinctive events programme throughout the year, with an acoustic stage downstairs and flexible event space upstairs – it’s perfect for all sorts of occasions and we can’t wait to open the doors!”.
What can we expect from Leaf West Kirby?
LEAF began as a small tea shop run by friends in a Liverpool city centre gallery in 2007, with a quest to bring quality loose-leaf tea to the city in an intimate and bohemian space.
LEAF on Bold Street opened in 2010, offering up a menu of locally-sourced and freshly-made food and countless varieties of loose-leaf tea, with comfy sofas and a wide variety of events. It became a popular spot to relax, enjoy culture and soak up the best in new music.
In 2015 the story LEAF continued with the opening of a sister venue in Manchester, LEAF on Portland Street.
LEAF have won Great Taste Awards for five of their teas and another for their gin.
LEAF venues include: LEAF on Bold Street, LEAF on Smithdown, LEAF on Portland Street, OH ME OH MY, ONE FINE DAY, THE Garden by LEAF at FACT.
