The Delivery Directory, a business guide set up by The Guide Liverpool to support businesses through the Covid-19 crisis has now reached 500 members.
The Delivery Directory was set up by The Guide Liverpool, who joined forces with Independent Liverpool and Liverpool BID Company to ‘shout out’ about city businesses who were still operating during lockdown.
And it’s been so successful the directory will become a permanent catalogue for companies and their customers, even when restrictions are lifted.
Jay Hynd, The Guide Liverpool’s director, explains: “The directory was set up on March 19 as many restaurants, bars and stores were being forced to close.
“The idea was to let people know which businesses were still up and running, albeit perhaps in a limited capacity.
“The focus initially was on those who were still delivering their services or products, or who had set up a new delivery service, but it became a register for many more who were still open for business and wanted to let people out there know.”
It’s free to be featured in the Delivery Directory, and companies listed include everything from restaurants to bars, cake companies and bakers and, even, theatres creating online productions for audiences missing their stage fix.
Among them are SKAUS, Laura’s Little Bakery, LIDS, Wirral Candle Company, Patterson’s Chicken, Crust, Strange Drinks, The Monro, Bone and Block, Claremont Farm, Kitty’s Laundrette, Com Cab Liverpool, Freida Mo’s, East River, White Wolf Yoga, HomeBaked, the Tavern, Love Lane Brewery and many more.
The Delivery Directory also includes online stores, taxi companies, shops still open for essentials, gyms and community organisations.
Independent Liverpool, Liverpool BID Company, Liverpool City Council and Marketing Liverpool have all supported and shared the directory to their followers.
Jay adds: “It’s our way of supporting local businesses throughout the crisis and it’s been really heart-warming to hear from so many of them and get to know them as they’ve been getting in touch.
“Thousands of people on Merseyside have been using the directory, so a big thanks to them too.
“The plan initially was just to run the Delivery Directory during the crisis but we’ve decided to continue to support local businesses and, once this is all over, we’ll improve it and keep it as a service for the city.”
